Q2 FY26 Outlook: Cautious Optimism Ahead

SIAM President Shailesh Chandra noted that while SIAM Motor Vehicle Data Q1 FY26 saw muted domestic performance, signs of revival are visible with festive season demand, improved rural incomes due to a strong monsoon, and RBI’s 100 basis point rate cuts expected to spur recovery.

However, supply-side challenges, especially China’s new export licensing rules on rare earth magnets, may affect vehicle production across categories in the near term.
